My husband and I have always tried to teach our children that you don't need a lot of money to have fun. We have also encouraged them to always work hard and be honest, even when it comes to playing games. If you play Dragonvale and follow the forums, you will see people bragging how they have jail-broken their IPODs to gain huge amounts of gems so they can 'buy' rare dragons like the rainbow, sun, and moon dragons. I strongly believe that this is cheating. (Not to mention the fact that the Apple corporation is doing it's best to put a stop to this practice through legal means.) Others take another easy way out and pay a lot of money to buy their way through the game. With college expenses for 3 people, what's extra money? What has happened to yesterday's good old grit and determination in today's world?
My one daughter has been playing Dragonvale 2 weeks longer than I. Not only did she successfully hatch 2 rainbow dragons by cross-breeding 2 dragons, she
also bred a moon and 2 sun dragons! Some people have all the luck! I have been playing the game since
October 1st and I am still chasing those elusive treasures. I sure wish Backflip Studios would allow her to 'gift' me one!

My Dragonvale Experience
My Dragonvale experience...
The first week in October, my 20 year old daughter introduced me to a game called Dragonvale. Within a few days, like many others, I became seriously addicted to the game. It was so exciting getting my first habitats and dragons! It was also very frustrating - waiting for enough gold coins to build up so I could buy more dragons and feed them and more habitats to house them. But soon enough, with careful planning, the gold began to stockpile and soon there was enough that I could buy new decorations and buildings and another 2 islands as they came out.
The goals set by the creators and the game server were mere stumbling blocks on the road to victory - Level 20! That is, until the rainbow dragon and the blue flame dragon were introduced, lol! But that is for another day.
